You can deliver your newborn or have surgery at either area hospital because we practice at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center.

About Us

Our story began when Dr. Richard E Hedrick, Jr. opened the first office in Winston-Salem, NC, as a solo practice in 1983. Dr. Hedrick wanted to provide women the best care in the Triad area, so he expanded his team to offer the same high-quality service to more teens and adults. Since then, we’ve added board-certified physicians, certified physician’s assistants, a nurse practitioner, and sonographers to the team. 

Our focus has always been on providing top-quality care in obstetrics and gynecology. We’ve invested in state-of-the-art technology and added new services such as in-office ultrasounds for high-risk patients to deliver on that promise. Services we provide include preventive care, well-woman exams, complete family planning, preconception, infertility services, ultrasounds, mammography, and expert diagnosis and treatment of complex issues like pelvic organ prolapse and maintaining optimal wellness during and after menopause. March of Dimes of the Triad

The physicians and staff at Hawthorne Obstetrics & Gynecology have worked closely with the March of Dimes and participated in fundraising in support of the March of Dimes. The March of Dimes advocates for the health of all moms and babies by supporting research and providing education to give babies the best possible start.

Ronald McDonald House Piedmont Triad

The physicians and staff at Hawthorne Obstetrics & Gynecology have supported the Ronald McDonald house located at 419 S. Hawthorne Road Winston Salem NC for many years providing ongoing support.

Ronald McDonald Charities Piedmont Triad, Inc., is an independent, community-supported 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides a “home-away-from-home” for families of children who are receiving treatment in our community’s medical facilities. The House and Family Room programs offer physical comforts, emotional support, education, programming, and referral services designed to promote the well-being of the whole family.

Patients receive no medical attention or treatments at the House. Ronald McDonald House is nondiscriminatory and non-sectarian. As one of six Ronald McDonald Houses in North Carolina and one of more than 350 worldwide, we are happy to open our doors to families of pediatric patients and invite them to stay with us. Our House offers 36 bedrooms with private baths for families, four living rooms, playrooms, a playground, support services, and a communal kitchen with pantry items, fresh foods, and meals provided through community support.

Community Involvement Winston-Salem, NC

The physicians at Hawthorne Obstetrics & Gynecology volunteer monthly at the Community Care Center at 2135 New Walkertown Road Winston-Salem, NC 27101. The Community Care Center serves Forsyth, Davie and Stokes counties. The Community Care Center provides health care services and medicines to uninsured patients who don’t qualify for federal or private insurance.
